Goals for the coming year

Throughout the current school year, students will continue to practice their reading and writing skills, and will move to more advanced mathematics such as multiplication and division. In addition, the school plans to provide more athletic, social, and artistic opportunities for the students, including art classes, martial arts training, and sports programs, among others. The students, teachers, volunteers, and directors are all excited to see what the school year will bring!

A new space

Colegio Los Niños currently operates in a small three-room schoolhouse near the center of Las Terrenas. Though the location is central and the rent is affordable, there is no room to expand in order to add additional classrooms, and the program hangs on the whim of the landlord (property protections in leases are not as strong as in the U.S.). In order to continue with the goal of adding an additional class each year for the next five years, Los Niñ needs to purchase its own plot of land to build a school large enough to accomodate all of its students.
